ELG Utica Alloys invests in a new Center of Excellence for accelerated growth and closes its Titanium Solids Division in Hartford - October 2025

Hartford, CT - 10/31/2025 - ELG Utica Alloys, a global leader in revert management, recycling of high-performance metals and alloys for the aerospace industry, today announced its investment into a new Center of Excellence in the United States, focused on innovation, automation, operational excellence, and future-ready capabilities.

This investment is part of a strategic realignment to support long-term growth and strengthen its market position. A first strategic step is the planned closure of the Titanium Solids operations in Hartford and the creation of greater efficiencies in the Titanium Turnings division. Business interruption will be avoided by increasing volumes in our Duisburg, Germany, facility and other certified ELG Utica Alloys locations and partners.

ELG Utica Alloys will redirect its investment into the new Center of Excellence, which is part of a broader transformation strategy to optimize its global footprint, enhance technological capabilities, and deliver greater value to customers and stakeholders.

“This is a pivotal move for our company, supporting an increase in Titanium Scrap utilization of over 20% compared to 2024 demand.” said Jan Hofmann, CEO of Aperam Recycling. “While decisions that impact our operations and people are never taken lightly, this transition reflects our commitment to investing in future growth and innovation. The new Center of Excellence will serve as a hub for best-in-class operations.”

The new Center of Excellence will complement core capabilities already in place and is expected to be operational by 01/01/2027.

This strategic move is part of ELG Utica Alloy’s ongoing efforts to future-proof its operations, enhance global customer service, and drive sustainable growth in an increasingly dynamic market landscape.

New Aperam Recycling Branding - April 2025

ELG, a global leader in recycling secondary raw materials, including stainless steel, superalloys as well as titanium, and integral part of Aperam, a global player in stainless, electrical, alloys, specialty steel and recycling & renewables, is strengthening its brand identity to reflect the strong synergies and shared vision to be the leading value creator in the circular economy of infinite, world-changing materials. This includes the introduction of the Aperam Recycling division logo alongside the ELG logo, underscoring the companies' joint commitment to sustainable solutions.

Since the end of 2021, ELG has been a central pillar of Aperam’s sustainable ambition to become a zero-waste company. The Aperam Recycling division consisting of ELG and Recyco focuses on processing and recycling stainless steel scraps and residues to return high quality secondary raw materials to the market. The division places circularity of materials at the heart of Aperam’s growth strategy.

The brand update comes as Aperam redefines what’s possible in the circular economy with its clear and powerful vision statement to be the leading value creator in the circular economy of infinite, world-changing materials. Aligning ELG's brand more closely now, reflects this increasing strategic importance of recycling within Aperam's overall strategy and its commitment to a closed-loop production model. The logo for Aperam Recycling was purposefully created for the refresh of ELG’s brand identity and will be introduced successively in all of ELG’s global sites and communication channels.

“This visual alignment marks an important chapter in our integration journey with Aperam,” says Jan Hofmann, CEO of ELG and Aperam’s Recycling and Renewables division. It authentically reflects ELG’s crucial position within Aperam and our shared commitment to delivering greater value to our customers through circular solutions.
